The Metabolic Syndrome, type II Diabetes and Atherosclerosis (MSDA formerly MSAC) congress was created in 2002 in order to gather every two years International experts from different fields to discuss a full spectrum of pertinent topics relating to metabolic syndrome, diabetes ands atherosclerosis.

The first edition of the congress was held in Lille (FRANCE) in 2002 while the second edition (2004) and third edition (2006) took place in Marrakesh (Morocco).

As from 2007, the MSDA congress has become an annual meeting and the “4th Metabolic Syndrome, type II Diabetes and Atherosclerosis congress” was hosted by the sunny capital city of Portugal, Lisbon, the “7 hill” city, from 16th to May 20th, 2007.
