The Metabolic Syndrome, type II Diabetes and Atherosclerosis (MSDA formerly MSAC) congress was created in 2002 in order to gather every two years International experts from different fields to discuss a full spectrum of pertinent topics relating to metabolic syndrome, diabetes and atherosclerosis.

The first edition of the congress was held in Lille (France) in 2002 while the second edition (2004), the third edition (2006) and the fourth edition (2008) took place in Marrakesh (Morocco).

As from 2007, the MSDA congress has become an annual meeting and the last edition was hosted by the city of Berlin, in Germany from 20th to May 24th, 2009.
